16 Essential Halloween Events in the Columbus Area 2018
Halloween season is upon us! Maximize the spookiness of this holiday at one of the many events happening in the Columbus area — from kid-friendly trick-or-treating adventures to libation-filled costumed galas.
Mark your calendars for the many Halloween events in Columbus on the horizon, whether you prefer a festive fall celebration or a thrilling haunted experience. These events are sure to take your Halloween to the next level!
Each Saturday in October, Polaris Fashion Place is hosting a special Boo 'n Brew celebration, featuring treats and activities for little ones. Costumed kids are invited to stroll up and down the lifestyle center collecting goodies from merchants and participating in fun activities, including crafts, a costume parade, entertainers, and various treats. Plus, adults can enjoy the beer garden and live music!
German Village Monster Bash
October 13 | 7–11:30 p.m. Location: Historic German Village, Columbus This annual event at the Historic German Village offers endless Halloween fun for kids-at-heart. The festivities start with an adult trick-or-treating route at 7 p.m., followed by dancing and drinks at the Meeting Haus at 9:30 p.m. There will be a photobooth, dancing and a costume contest, so come dressed in your Halloween finest! You can even watch the Ohio State game on a big screen, grab a s'more and try a delicious concoction from Middle West Spirits. Plus, the party continues at The Daily Growler, which will stay open later than usual for a post-party drink! General admission tickets are $75.All Hallows' Eve at Ohio Village
October 13 + 20 | 5:30–9:30 p.m. Location: Ohio Village, Columbus Enjoy an evening of 1890s-style fun at the historic Ohio Village. All Hallows' Eve will feature a retelling of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by the bonfire, pumpkin carving and strange characters roaming the village. Revel in old-fashioned entertainment for all ages, including fortune telling, crafts, games and more! General admission tickets are $14 for adults, $11 for youth (ages 4–12), and free for children 3 and under. October 19 | 6–7:30 p.m. Location: Three Creeks Metro Park, Columbus Listen to not-too-scary stories and enjoy s'mores by the campfire at the Halloween Family Fun Night at Three Creeks Metro Park. See the iconic Ohio Statehouse from a different perspective this Halloween season as you embark on a haunted tour of the building — if you dare! Combine history and legend in this special family-friendly haunted tour, which travels through dimly lit limestone corridors by lantern. This spooky tour features recently found evidence of paranormal activity and is most appropriate for children ages 9 and up. October 19–21 + 26–28 | Fridays 5–9 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m.–9 p.m. + Sundays 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Location: Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Columbus This "merry-not-scary" Halloween event is a must for little ones of all ages! Go on a trick-or-treating adventure at the Columbus Zoo on the weekends leading up to Halloween, stopping by various treat stations scattered throughout the zoo. Make sure you catch the animals smashing pumpkins, which is a favorite amongst guests each year! Make sure your fur baby isn't left out of the Halloween fun! Dress your dog in their best costume and head to Easton Town Center for a special Halloween Pet Parade and Fall Festival. Costumes will be judged and awards are given based on a number of categories, including Best Group, Best Duo, Cutest, Funniest, Most Creative and Scariest. Free registration begins at noon and the parade kicks off at 2 p.m.!Haunted Wine Cellar | Food and Wine Pairing & Costume Contest
Location: October 26 | 7:30–10 p.m. Location: Wyandotte Winery, Columbus Embark on a trip of terror through the haunted wine cellar at Wyandotte Winery. Come dressed in costume (prizes will be awarded for the best costumes!) and enjoy endless entertainment, including a terrorizing tour through six haunted food and wine pairing stations. Tickets are $35 and admission includes all six pairings, access to the bonfire and snacks on the patio. Advance registration is required! The OSU School of Music presents their 25th annual Halloween concert, featuring student vocalists and instrumentalists decked out in Halloween attire. This popular community tradition includes a mix of movie and TV themes, contemporary pop, folk music, spoofs on classical motifs, choral and chamber arrangements, and much more. October 26 | 4–7 p.m. Location: Ohio Wildlife Center, Powell Take a walk on the wild side at the Ohio Wildlife Center in Powell as you walk through the White Tail Trail and visit with "spooky" animal ambassadors like owls Bella, Alex and Woodsy, snakes Checkers, Percy and Lenore, and American Crows. Hoover Gardens is hosting a fun Halloween celebration for all ages. Walk through a haunted maze, play games and win prizes, enter the costume contest, get your face painted, paint a pumpkin, eat popcorn and sip on hot apple cider. This event is completely free but pumpkin painting costs $2 per pumpkin.Trick or Treat at the Conservatory
October 27–28 | 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Location: Franklin Park Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, Columbus Celebrate Halloween in a gorgeous setting at the Franklin Park Conservatory & Botanical Gardens. Bring your own reusable bag, dress up in costume, and make stops at the various trick-or-treat stations positioned throughout the conservatory biomes and The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation Children's Garden. October 31 | 6–8 p.m. Location: Town Center Promenade, Grove City Each Halloween night, Grove City's Town Center Promenade is transformed into a destination for spooky fun. This family-friendly event provides an alternative to the traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating (which is also offered in the community), allowing children to collect candy and other goodies from area businesses and civic organizations.Happy Halloween!
